Few things are better than enjoying a pleasant hike with your furry best friend. Dogs enjoy the outdoors just as much as we do! Bring your favorite canine with you to our Dog Hike Event on October 19 at 10am at the Oak Hill Trailhead. We will enter your name into our dog gear raffle for a chance to win a bowl, a leash, or a dog bed by Ruffwear. Please visit our events page for more details.
Your guide on the dog hike will be Kristen Leffler, the “doggy guru” at Appalachian Outfitters. Kristen has years of experience with animals, both through volunteering at the Humane Society of Greater Akron and fostering animals. She grew up with household pets and at one point, she had five dogs in her house at once. Kristen believes everyone benefits when you go outdoors with your pet – you can exercise, enjoy nature, and feel more secure hiking with your dog than if you’re hiking alone. There’s no one better to guide you and your dog on a Northeastern Ohio trail than someone who feels as comfortable with dogs as Kristen does.
Kristen estimates the trail will take about an hour to hike. The 1.8-mile trail tends to take longer with dogs – they enjoy smelling everything! Because Oak Hill is a fairly flat trail, many dogs of various shapes, sizes, and ages can hike the trail without difficulty. As you walk along the path, you will see a pond, which can be fun for many dogs and owners.
